Title: Such a Rush
Author: Jennifer Echols
Published: July 10, 2012 by MTV Books
Pages: ebook, 336 pages

4/5 STARS

A sexy and poignant romantic tale of a young daredevil pilot caught between two brothers. When I was fourteen, I made a decision. If I was doomed to live in a trailer park next to an airport, I could complain about the smell of the jet fuel like my mom, I could drink myself to death over the noise like everybody else, or I could learn to fly.

Heaven Beach, South Carolina, is anything but, if you live at the low-rent end of town. All her life, Leah Jones has been the grown-up in her family, while her mother moves from boyfriend to boyfriend, letting any available money slip out of her hands. At school, they may diss Leah as trash, but she’s the one who negotiates with the landlord when the rent’s not paid. At fourteen, she’s the one who gets a job at the nearby airstrip.

But there’s one way Leah can escape reality. Saving every penny she can, she begs quiet Mr. Hall, who runs an aerial banner-advertising business at the airstrip and also offers flight lessons, to take her up just once. Leaving the trailer park far beneath her and swooping out over the sea is a rush greater than anything she’s ever experienced, and when Mr. Hall offers to give her cut-rate flight lessons, she feels ready to touch the sky.

By the time she’s a high school senior, Leah has become a good enough pilot that Mr. Hall offers her a job flying a banner plane. It seems like a dream come true . . . but turns out to be just as fleeting as any dream. Mr. Hall dies suddenly, leaving everything he owned in the hands of his teenage sons: golden boy Alec and adrenaline junkie Grayson. And they're determined to keep the banner planes flying. Though Leah has crushed on Grayson for years, she’s leery of getting involved in what now seems like a doomed business—until Grayson betrays her by digging up her most damning secret. Holding it over her head, he forces her to fly for secret reasons of his own, reasons involving Alec. Now Leah finds herself drawn into a battle between brothers—and the consequences could be deadly.

Review:

Such a Rush was a dramatic read.

Leah Jones has lived her whole life in a trailer park. She has moved from one place to another because of her mother and her mother's new boyfriends. They don't have much money and Leah isn't living the normal life. Rather than living her life in sorrow, she takes things into her own hands and make something of her life. She gets a job and learns how to fly.

Leah is an amazing character. When she was stuck living a poor life she didn't let that stop her from making it better. She fell in love with flying and that's all that mattered for. Even when the kids in school bullied her or her boyfriend cheated on her, she stood up for herself because she knew she deserved better.

I liked Grayson, but some of the time he annoyed me. I get that he's are trying to prevent something happening with his brother, but he shouldn't have involved Leah in it. Besides the annoying moments, I loved how protective he was with Leah and how he wanted to take care of her when she needed it.

Overall, Such a Rush was a good read. It taught me that if you're stuck in a really big problem, that just means you have to fight hard to get yourself out.

5/5 STARS

Being connected to Daemon Black sucks…

Thanks to his alien mojo, Daemon’s determined to prove what he feels for me is more than a product of our bizarro connection. So I’ve sworn him off, even though he’s running more hot than cold these days. But we’ve got bigger problems.

Something worse than the Arum has come to town…

The Department of Defense are here. If they ever find out what Daemon can do and that we're linked, I’m a goner. So is he. And there's this new boy in school who’s got a secret of his own. He knows what’s happened to me and he can help, but to do so, I have to lie to Daemon and stay away from him. Like that's possible. Against all common sense, I'm falling for Daemon. Hard.

But then everything changes…

I’ve seen someone who shouldn’t be alive. And I have to tell Daemon, even though I know he’s never going to stop searching until he gets the truth. What happened to his brother? Who betrayed him? And what does the DOD want from them—from me?

No one is who they seem. And not everyone will survive the lies…

Review (Part 1):

Starting the book

The D.O.D.
Katy and Daemon

Chapter 31

Ending

Overall

Review (Part 2):

Jennifer L. Armentrout is like a writing machine filled with great ideas and knowlegde for ways to make her audience fall in love with her books. When I received Onyx in my mail I literally jumped for joy and started reading it, never once putting it down.

Katy and Daemon are connected after Daemon healed her. But the new connection isn't the only thing Katy has to deal with. She is now able to do things that she shoudn't be able to do. As for Daemon, he has his hands full trying to prove to Katy that his feelings are real, and to find out what really happened to his brother.

Daemon and Katy are so cuuuute. I love them. Their bickers could be my favorite moments between the two, and when I read their parts together, I always find myself smiling. As for the new boy, I never liked him, not once. I was always suspicious of him, so when Daemon decided to go tough on his ass I was giddy.

After reading Shadows I had a gut feeling that my theory was true (that I will not say because it will spoil the book) so when I read the ending of Onyx and it turns out I was right, all I could say is "That's right".

I have named Chapter 31 the forbidden chapter.

This book was amaaaazing. I definitely love that the story keeps developing. I also love that now Katy is stronger and doesn't need people to be protecting her all the time.

Title: Rich Boys
Author: Jenny O'Connell
Published: March 9th 2010 by MTV
Pages: Paperback, 256 pages

3/5 STARS

There are two kinds of people on the island -- those who leave at summer's end...and those who are left behind.

For seventeen-year-old Winnie, summer can't arrive fast enough -- anything to get out of the house and escape the cold war brewing between her parents. With her older sister, Shelby, spending the summer in Boston, Winnie's left to deal with the situation all by herself. Which is why she's happy to spend all day away from home at a cushy job -- camp counselor at the prestigious Oceanview Inn.

And when the Barclays, a wealthy summer family, offer Winnie an additional babysitting job in the evenings after work, she jumps at the opportunity. Little Cassie Barclay is fun to take care of, and hanging out in the gorgeous Barclay summer house overlooking the harbor is far more pleasant than being on the front lines of the battle between her parents.

Then Cassie's older and devastatingly attractive stepbrother Jay arrives on the island after a disastrous first year at college, and he seems to want nothing more than to wreak havoc for his stepmother and the rest of his family. Winnie soon discovers that life in the Barclay summer house isn't so perfect after all, and what was supposed to be a carefree summer escapade is quickly becoming more complicated than she ever thought possible....

Description Source: www.goodreads.com

Review:

Rich Boys is a summer read about a teenage working two jobs to avoid her home. One of her jobs is babysitting a six-year-old, and she can't help but be attracted to the big brother.

This book wasn't one of my favorites. Throughout this book Winnie liked Jay, but she never explained why she liked him or how he made her feel. I found you couldn't really connect with Winnie. I also thought that aside the problems with the parents, nothing really exciting or nerve wracking happened that wanted to make you turn the page to see what happened next.

I'm giving this book 3 stars because I did like that you could connect with the family problems that happened in the story, but I found that this book wasn't a must read.

Title: Pushing The Limits
Author: Katie McGarry
Published: July 31st 2012 by Harlequin Teen
Pages: Hardcover, 384 pages

4/5 STARS

No one knows what happened the night Echo Emerson went from popular girl with jock boyfriend to gossiped-about outsider with "freaky" scars on her arms. Even Echo can't remember the whole truth of that horrible night. All she knows is that she wants everything to go back to normal. But when Noah Hutchins, the smoking-hot, girl-using loner in the black leather jacket, explodes into her life with his tough attitude and surprising understanding, Echo's world shifts in ways she could never have imagined. They should have nothing in common. And with the secrets they both keep, being together is pretty much impossible.

Yet the crazy attraction between them refuses to go away. And Echo has to ask herself just how far they can push the limits and what she'll risk for the one guy who might teach her how to love again.

Description Source: www.goodreads.com

Review:

Katie McGarry wrote an amazing novel about two struggling teenagers who find love with each other.

Echo was once popular but everything changed after she was attacked by her mother. She's been struggling to remember what exactly happened to her that night. Her brother is dead and her father is too busy taking care of his new wife. Echo feels alone until she meets Noah. Noah is a foster kid who lost his family after his parents' death and the seperation between him and his two younger brothers.

The two are completely different but yet have important things in common. The relationship between Noah and Echo was rocky at first, but once the two figured out that their lives were screwed up they form a bond. Noah is protective of Echo and makes sure nothing bad happens to her again. Echo helps Noah get himself together and teaches him thath he's able to love other people than his family. During the whole book I thought that the two of them were the perfect pair. Both were in bad situations, but they were definitely strong characters.

This book contained some relatable issues to many teenagers and was an emotional read. I loved reading this story and I recommend it to every teenager.

As the air heats up, so does this love triangle. Will Lori’s romantic summer melt into one hot mess?

Description Source: www.goodreads.com

Review:

Jennifer Echols wrote another great read.

When I first heard about this series I thought it was going to like Jenny Han's series, Summer, but I was wrong. The books were different in many ways.

Lori has had a crush on Sean for as long as she remembers, but when things don't go as she plans she gets help from Adam, Sean's brother, to make him jealous. However the more time she spends with Adam the less she's thinking about Sean.

Lori is a fun character but a lot of time she fustrates me with the whole scheming in the first and second book. I'm not going to say who she ends up with, but she definitely ended up with the right guy.
